Robin Hoods Bay

12th-14th June 2026

Got into the area late morning and parked up at the P&R for Whitby and managed to get the dog on the bus into town. It was basically as expected in what had been a busy fishing port, now mostly cruising yachts but still some working boats with fish & chips everywhere along with the seagulls. The walk out along the pier was nice and there were some nice small bitty shops but the Main Street was chains as expected and several scruffy coffee shops.

Arrived at the site at Flyingthorpe down a narrow country lane via a ford into a queue to check in. There were 2 areas, we had chosen the family field as it was dog friendly being right by the path to the beach.

Quick setup and the dog straight down to the village beach (tide was in) and a swim for her, not us!

The site was busy but overall quiet and was a sun trap but the whole time we were there it was very windy. The village was lovely 3 pubs one right at the top of the beach ramp where we had a few pints in the sun.

We had planned to cycle but it was so windy that we left the bikes in the van, which is a shame as there was a great cinder track along the bay on an old railway line.

Would definitely go back into the area again, maybe at the other end of the bay with the rugged coastline its a great place for a few days.
